Alpine Pirating in Tuolumne Meadows

Kurt, Billy and I spent an incredible 4 days in the Yosemite high county. After hitching a ride up to the edge of the plow line, not far from Tioga Pass, with a Cal Trans operator, we skinned into the Tuolumne ski hut with a gallon bag of cookies, good food, and supplies to ski and climb. On the first day, we skied a ridge not far from the hut. On day two, we approached Cathedral Peak on skis and summited the mountain without a single other person around for miles. This was my first time on the Southeast ridge and it likely won’t be the last. The next day we skied Unicorn Peak and lapped lines around it. We met some cool people are passing through the hut and even had a dinner of salmon and wine with some older members of the Yosemite Winter Club who had stashed food and beverages over the summer. It was a very successful weekend of alpine pirating. I need more of this in my life.
